Today we did a morning tour to the Keukenhof Gardens for the Tulip Festival. It was the perfect time to visit with both tulips and daffodils in full bloom, as well as hyacinths and other spring flowers.
Our day began with another beautiful sunrise.
We again left the city of Amsterdam and journeyed to the countryside.
As we neared the gardens, we drove by beautiful tulip and daffodil fields in full bloom.
Soon we were at the Tulip Festival. This year was its first year to open since the Covid Pandemic, so it was quite popular. We wandered around the large grounds admiring the beautiful spring flowers in full bloom.
We took a small break from the flowers to see the farm animals in a small petting zoo for children.
Then we explored the gardens some more.
By the windmill, there was a view of the tulip fields.
The beauty of the flowers was enhanced by blossoming trees and ponds and creeks.
There was also an inside orchid exhibit.

Interspersed throughout were different statuary, fountains, and other unique additions to the flower displays.
All too soon, it was time to return to the bus. We admired a few more flowers on our way to the exit.
On the drive back, we once again passed by tulip fields. Throughout the day, the sky was streaked with white trails as if from a plane. They were particularly striking as we left the tulip festival.
We enjoyed the sail away. We passed by Amsterdam and the countryside, enjoying the views of the buildings, canals, swans, and even a little rabbit! After the sail away, we got ready for the 150th birthday dinner for Holland America. The president of the company got on board shortly before we sailed away. He and his wife will stay with us for a few days to celebrate the birthday with us.
