Bergen, Norway

Bergen was our last stop in Norway. I stayed on board as I had a sore throat and wanted to rest up for the Norwegian dinner tonight. Brent went into town on a quest for whale meat. He did find some and enjoyed it. I wasn't sad to have missed it though.

That evening we went to the Pinnacle to enjoy a Norwegian dinner complete with a cured salmon appetizer, a leek and potato soup with Norwegian brown bread called Purresuppe, a raspberry and cardamom sorbet as a palate cleanser, a meat sampler with pork meatballs, a Brunost-crusted lamb chop, and pork belly. For dessert there was an raspberry swirl ice cream cone topped with Brunost. Brunost is a caramel-flavored cheese product popular in Norway. I loved it on the lamb and ice cream, but didn't care for it plain.

Fancy dinner! The raspberry and cardamom sorbet sounds wonderful! Carmel-flavored cheese sounds unusual! I am a vegetarian, so I wouldn't have eaten some of the food items, but the bread and soup cold treats would have been fun to taste!
